The opera follows Field Marshal Rutowski and the enigmatic Dr. Kurwa as they journey through Lusatia in search of the grave of Fatma, the “captured Turk”—a journey into repressed origins, a family history of migration, and inner turmoil. Marc Sinan’s multifaceted composition blends Baroque and Ottoman sounds.
