Endless Pleasures II: Orpheus & the Peony Woman
2019
In the European version of “Orpheus and Euridice,” just as in the Chinese text, the beloved returns from the underworld. In “Endless Pleasures” love becomes an anarchic force. It builds a bridge that reaches beyond death. It does not respect the established order of nature and the world. The couples fall deeper and deeper into an intoxicating frenzy between reality and fiction.
The Puppentheater Halle, the ensemble ConTempo Beijing, the media collective schnellebuntebilder, the Marc Sinan Company and other artists unite in a transdisciplinary format of new music, puppetry, traditional instruments, digital stage design and opera.
